The Midwest Arc Users Group is an organization of GIS professionals that use ArcGIS, ArcIMS, and other related ESRI GIS software. Users are from local, state and federal governments, universities, utilities, consulting firms, mapping companies, and other private firms. Meetings are typically held on a biennial basis. We are currently looking for a host for the 2007 meeting, and/or beyond. Might you and your institution be interested in hosting?

Participants come from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Conferences focus on the application of ESRI technology to solve everyday business needs with an emphasis on technical solutions and problem solving. One goal of the conferences is to allow people to meet to learn how to solve technical challenges and to apply new solutions at their workplace. The conferences provide an inexpensive, local alternative to the annual international ESRI users conference. The conference brings together many users from the immediate region to discuss projects and exchange ideas in a friendly, professional, and casual manner.

While MidwestArc works closely with ESRI, it is not affiliated with the company. ESRI did not create MidwestArc and does not fund it. The user group is entirely supported by users: GIS professionals who volunteer to run, organize, and host meetings. There are no annual membership fees. Any and all users of ESRI software in the region are welcome and encouraged to participate in the group's activities. And while the group does focus specifically on ESRI software, it welcomes all who are interested in GIS technology.
